Election Information

Registering to Vote


To register to vote, you must be:

1. A U.S. citizen
2. At least 18 years old by Election Day
3. A resident of Michigan and the city or township where you are applying to register to vote

If you wish to register to vote you may:

  • Stop by the Township Office
  • Visit any Secretary of State Office
  • Register online at the Secretary of State
  • Complete a voter application and return it to the Clerk’s office

MICHIGAN VOTERS HAVE THREE OPTIONS FOR CASTING THEIR BALLOTS:

1. ABSENTEE VOTING

All registered voters have the right to vote by mail.


2. EARLY VOTING

Voters can vote and place their completed ballot into a tabulator during the nine days of early voting. The Benzonia Township Hall located at 2717 Benzie Hwy, Benzonia 49616. Early voting will be open at this site from 8:00 AM and close at 4:00 PM.


3. IN-PERSON VOTING

In-person voting on Election Day continues to be an option for voters who prefer to vote at their assigned precincts. Precincts open at 7:00 AM and close at 8:00 PM

Township Cemetery

The Benzonia Township Cemetery is located on a lovely piece of wooded Township property on Love Road just east of (behind) Family Fare at US-31.

Gates are open from the end of May through the end of October each year. Our Cemetery Sexton is available to arrange for a cemetery lot, schedule a burial, or answer general questions. He can be reached at 231-633-2592.

Our new cemetery program provides a record all of those interred, pictures of the plots, as well as a map of each section. If you do not find what you are looking for below, please stop by the Township office.

Please contact the township office to obtain the Memorial Park Usage Form, fill it out and return. If you are an individual resident, you need to call the Deputy Clerk to reserve a particular date during the season.
